About

I have heard they do not even teach COBOL in college any more.  Many believe COBOL is a dying language.  Those of us in the mainframe world know differently.

There are billions of lines of COBOL code executed every day and thousands of more lines are written daily.  Some of this code is written with performance in mind, much more of it is not.

This blog has been created to share performance tuning techniques.  Some of these techniques can also be applied to other programming languages, not just COBOL.

If you have any performance tuning techniques that are not covered in this blog and you would like to share, please email me at Lon.Peper @ gmail.com.
